Action For Southern Africa (ACTSA)

About us

ACTSA is the successor organisation to the Anti-Apartheid Movement. Created in 1994, we champion community action in Southern Africa and the UK, to advance human rights in the region.

Our mission is to support civil society and activists in Southern Africa, so that the legacies of colonialism, racism and apartheid are replaced with justice and peace.  We work by:

Campaigning with people in Southern Africa and with people across the UK to influence change and support human rights in the region.

Sharing information and promoting learning about why the legacies of apartheid and colonialism still affect all of us today, and how everyone can be involved in making changes which advance human rights.

Connecting like-minded people to continue solidarity with civil society in the region, including through the arts, heritage and culture, fair trade and ethical business.

Supporting human rights activists in and from Southern Africa, amplifying their work for justice including policy changes which lead to equality and democracy, relieve poverty or promote public education and research.
